Beach Weekend

Henry, Soph and I went to the beach this last weekend.  We had a really good time. Lots of comfort food, relaxation, watching the trains go by, playing fetch, building sand castles and just simply enjoying each other.
Henry made up a new game with his BFF Sophie.  "Stay....Stay....Stay...."
 "Got you!"
Henry, trying to fix his bucket.  Every time I tried to assist he responded "NO, Hen-ie do it!"  So independent!
Stomp, stomp, stomp.  In Henry's book, this is the only reason to build a sand castle, so you can stomp it down.
Burying his feet.  He loves the sand.
Why not bathe in it too?
 Victory!
Mmm, mmm, yum.  We have a tradition of buying an ice cream cone whenever we visit the beach.  Mama and Henry love ice cream.  Henry ALWAYS chooses "geeeen kiiiine" (aka mint chocolate chip).  He calls the chocolate chips "coooookiiiiiies"  and the cone "kunchie kiiiiine."
This is one messy-faced happy self portrait, taken as we watched the train depart from the depot across the street.  Henry LOVES trains.

Berry Picking

Henry, Grandma O and I went berry picking last night.  Raspberry and blueberry picking to be exact.  We had so much fun!  Getting prepared for the next year of smoothies, which is one of Henry's favorite things to consume.  When we were driving to the farm Henry kept repeating "pick beaadies....feeeezzzzzz....make SMOOOOVIE!!!"  He's facinated with processes these days and loves to tell you all about them.
Henry is such a good little helper.  He loves ALL outdoor activities.  Even though he ran up and down each of the berry rows over and over (and over and over) again, I am happy to report he never tripped.  This was a boo-boo free adventure, thank goodness.  If you looked at his legs these days you would think his favorite pastime is cage fighting with all the bruises, nicks and scrapes.  He is one rough and tumble kiddo.
Me and my Little Man.  I love this dude.
When Henry got bored with berry picking he decided to try out his digging skills.  He got dirt in EVERY crevasse of his body!
Happy, happy!

Happy Independence Day...a week in pictures

There is no better way to spend Independence Day (and the week surrounding it) than with the ones that matter most - friends and family! We continued the tradition by spending several nights at the beach.  We had an absolute blast.

Henry visited the Oregon Coast Aquarium with Mama, Daddy, Grandpa Jim and Grandma O.  He loved all the marine animals, especially the seals, otters and fish.
 Mama!  Sharks!
 Daddy helping Henry play submarine.
Mama and Henry enjoying a little sun before headed home.
Grandma Sherry teaching Henry how to bat.  She is going to be a great baseball coach (even before T-ball starts)!
So proud of himself after hitting the ball all by himself.
Daddy, Grandma Sherry and Henry enjoying the 4th of July parade in downtown Rockaway.  It never ceases to amaze me that they actually shut down HWY 101 for the parade.  Love it!
 Sand is oh so heavy!!!
Last year, Henry freaked out whenever his feet hit the sand.  As you can see, he has found a new love for the sand.  We had a great time digging in the sand and building sand castles (just for Henry to stomp on them as fast as Mama could build them).
Whoa!  That's cold!!!  I love his expression, cracks me up.
 Water baby!
Happy, happy boy at the beach.
Henry, Daddy and Mama road the train for the first time at the beach.  We even got seats on the outdoor car on the way into town.  The trip was a HUGE hit with Little Man.  He was mesmerized the entire trip into town.  The ice cream cone while in town was also a big hit.  He chose "geen kine" (aka mint chocolate chip), as usual.
On the way back, we tried out the indoor car.
Pop-Its are lots of fun with Grandma Sherry.
 Squeeze...squeeze...squeeze...
 Popped it!!!!
 Henry LOVED water balloons.
