Kids say the funniest things. Here some recent highlights from Henry:
On our walk the other day through the neighborhood there were several crows flying around. Suddenly, several of them swooped down and landed in some grass. Henry got excited and said "Ohhhhhh, Black Bird eat worms!"
Henry ran around the house the other night with his plastic hoe in his hand (which is a frequent occurrence), but then he slowed down, crouching somewhat, scrunched up his face and then yelled "GO WAY MONSTER!!!! GO WAY MONSTER!!!"
Recently, Henry scraped his knee. Every time his knees are exposed (diaper changes, getting ready for bed, bath time, etc.) he points to his knew and says, "owwie." I usually respond, "Yes, you fell down a few days ago and bonked your knee." Henry then responds, "Baby knee owwie healing."
Me: "Hey Henry, do you want to help Mommy do some gardening?"
Henry: "Yea, Baby help Mama working." "Baby use tiny shovel, Mama use BIG shovel."
Henry is a bit light sensitive. It has been sunny recently, and on those mornings when I opened Henry's blinds in his bedroom he objected by saying "No more sun! Go way sun!"
When I dropped Henry off at my mom's house, he ran into her front yard and said: "Mama, turtle hiding booses." My initial response was "huh???" Then I followed him to see what he was looking at and realized he found a stone turtle my mom had in her garden, slightly hidden by a bush. I then responded, "That's right, a turtle is hiding in the bushes."
Henry and I started Mother's Day weekend out with some frozen yogurt. I let him make all the selections, which you can see is quite an assortment (mango, taro and chocolate/peanut butter frozen yogurt with cheesecake bits, mini M&Ms, brownie bits and one token gummy worm). Henry was really excited about the gummy worm, but once he saw that some frozen yogurt had stuck to the sides of the gummy worm, he lifted it up close to my face and proclaimed "Worm DIRTY! Mama EAT IT!!!!" I responded, "It's okay. Henry should eat it." He immediately retorted, "NO! DIRTY! MAMA EAT IT!!!" So...I followed suit and ate the "dirty worm." : )
Many mornings, we begin our day with a few snuggles in "Mama's bed" and Henry likes to point and list off all my facial features (eyes, ears, mouth, nose, etc.). The other morning while we were going through this routine, he pointed and touched my eyebrow and said "ooooohhhhh". I replied, "that's Mama's eyebrow." He then responded, "Mama....bone inside dere."
In a similar vain, the other night he opened a shoe box with some kid sandals inside that had some paper braces inside each shoe to help keep their shape. He looked up at me and said "Mama, see dere...bone inside Baby shoe. " I love how he's starting to make associations.
In other events, Henry has learned the difference between his right and left hands and his "eating hand" (aka his right hand). He now goes around pointing out right and left items on his body and others. He frequently likes to point out my right ear, left ear...right arm, left arm...right foot, left foot....
He's also added a few more colors to his list, including orange, pink, grey and brown.
On the food front, he's getting really good at drinking out of a cup now (without a lid or straw). He loves to dip just about anything. He loves cucumbers with either hummus or Korean style hot sauce. He likes carrots and celery with ranch dressing. Waffles, pancakes and french toast with
syrup. Scrambled eggs with ketchup. "Leaves" (aka arugula) with balsamic dressing. Chicken fingers with BBQ sauce. He is so his Mama's boy...Ryan thinks it's all DISGUSTING (considering he doesn't eat condiments).
Hahaha he's so funny! I love that he's made the connection with bones, smart kiddo!
